I have shaved with an Edwin Jagger DE89 for some time and wanted an adjustable razor vs. open comb. Considered an Ikon OSS which looks solid and has the best of both world's. However, it comes with a hefty price. Then considered a Merkur Vision 2000, but nearly the same price tag or even higher. Then after ordering from Shavingcreams.com before and enjoying the experience, I decided to try the Futur, since they do not carry the Vision. I feel I have made a Great choice and love this razor! Make no mistake, the Jagger DE89 is an exceptional razor...and I consider it one of the best. At the "1" setting, the Futur matches the Jagger as far as closeness and comfort. But when there is considerable stubble, the Futur takes over when I set it on "3". It's not for everyone because of the weight and/or proneness to Nick's and cuts no matter how Good the blade or cream one uses...and it's not the cheapest razor. But for me...and I did experience razor irritation before I started with the Jagger...the Futur is probably the last razor I will ever need. I love the weight, and I have heard that it slips when hands are wet...it has not slipped in my hands. Now, that doesn't mean that there are not more elegant and beautiful razors out there. There are. And the Jaggers are Just as elegant and beautiful as some of the most expensive safety razors. The Futur is a man's razor and does what it advertises. If you like to tinker and prefer butterfly opening mechanism...try the Vision. If you want a substantial razor that does the SAME job as the Vision and no tinkering and constant cleaning...the Futur is it. And with the service and free shipping at Shavingcreams.com...I jumped all over it! Paul was awesome and a Great help.
